The Center of Urban and Regional Planning for Postgraduate Studies at the University of Baghdad discussed the master’s thesis entitled (The impact of urban compaction on the reality of the infrastructure “sewage”) by the student Sama Hassan Radhi, and supervised by Professor Dr. Nada Khalifa. The thesis aimed to analyze the current challenges and evaluate the efficiency of sewage service in residential complexes on Al-Muthanna Airport Street, with a focus on indicators related to urban density and infrastructure sustainability.

The results showed that sewage networks suffer from a functional decline due to the incompatibility of their capabilities with the rapid urban expansion, which leads to noticeable functional crises. The student concluded that it is necessary to enhance the sustainability of sewage systems and ensure the provision of integrated urban services that meet the aspirations of the current population and the needs of future generations.

The thesis recommended the importance of modernizing sewage networks in the study area using smart and sustainable treatment technologies that meet the needs of the growing population, and taking into account potential environmental impacts while ensuring service flexibility.
