The Center of Urban and Regional Planning for Postgraduate Studies at the University of Baghdad removed all rooms, warehouses, and partitions constructed with sandwich panels. The removal was carried out under the direct supervision of the Dean of the Center, Professor Dr. Kareem Hassan Alwan, and implemented by the Maintenance, Services, Follow-up, and Civil Defense units. The removal plan was prepared, and a report was prepared and approved by the University’s Construction and Projects Department. This was in accordance with the directives of the Baghdad Municipality and the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research to remove flammable or combustible materials, such as sandwich panels and Alucobond, from university buildings and facilities. The necessary measures were taken to protect lives and ensure the safety of infrastructure and public property.

In the same context, the Civil Defense Unit at the Center, in coordination with the Maintenance and Services Unit, rehabilitated and maintained the fire extinguishing systems and ensured the serviceability of the fire extinguishers after physically inspecting them and distributing them throughout the Center’s facilities, particularly near warehouses, workshops, and electrical outlets.
