IURP contributes to the creation of planning awareness and the preparation of qualified planners to deal with the expected changes and planning challenges, and to ensure the foundations of the modern renaissance desired in Iraq.

Message

IURP contributes the building and development of human capital in Iraq along with other university institutions, and to provide state and community institutions with planners specialized in planning on the local, urban, and regional levels, and keep pace with scientific development in the major.

Objectives

The establishment of the Center of Urban and Regional Planning was to meet the urgent need of Iraq for specialized planners of diploma, master and doctorate degrees in the field of urban and regional planning, to be qualified in the design of spatial development policies and translate them into plan, and follow-up the implementation of the study of the spatial environment (cities, provinces, and regions).

Scientific and Academic Objectives:

1. Preparing specialized planning staff with urban and regional planning to improve the reality of cities and rural areas.

2. Continuing work to raise rates of quality and efficiency in postgraduate studies implemented by the Center for urban and regional planning.

3. Developing systems of teaching, exams and tests and using new techniques to enhance teaching and learning methods.

4. Developing the information systems in the center necessary to establish a knowledge structure that serves the development of projects, letters and theses.

5. Continuing emphasis on the scientific and applied aspects in addition to the scientific academic aspect in the academic programs in the Center and its applied projects.

6. Promoting the scientific construction of the teaching staff and researchers in the Center.

7. Spreading planning awareness and emphasizing the philosophy of urban and regional strategic planning in the preparation of regional plans and major plans for cities to organize the current reality to raise ambition for a better future in both aspects: qualitative and quantitative.

8. Continuing commitment to the values ​​and ethical and human dimensions of higher education in the field of postgraduate studies, as knowledge and minds are not goods, but an important resource to be nurtured to improve the quality of education and the development of its level and witness its positive impact on the outcomes of the Center.
