Urban and Regional Planning Section 

 

The Urban and Regional Planning center is characterized by the nature of its specialization, which distinguishes it from other branches of graduate studies in Iraqi universities, but it combines the academic and applied trends on the one hand and the fact that its students from multiple disciplines ( Interdisciplinary ) , On the other hand, a requirement for the formation of planners . The planning process is the result of the interaction of a group of human knowledge to form the final outcome of the planning capacity of planners. This pluralism becomes important if the planning act is reflected in reality within the “place” data .The city planning or site planning is not limited to economic knowledge in the calculations of costs and returns, but also in the study of the population: their customs, traditions, movement, and demographic composition…. It is also a study of the physical characteristics of that place and is above this and that geometric dimensions of architecture and land uses. The planning process is the result of the integration of human knowledge of the sciences of economics, geography, sociology and engineering.
