The Urban Planning Center Holds a Workshop on the Role of Urban Space in Social Interaction
The Center of Urban and Regional Planning for Postgraduate Studies at the University of Baghdad held a workshop entitled (The Role of Urban Space in Promoting Social Interaction Over Time), delivered by the center’s teaching instructor, Dr. Zainab Abbas, in the presence of the center’s professors, employees, and postgraduate students. The workshop aimed to update indicators for achieving social interaction in The city and achieving social interaction in urban space, and then studying the relationship of the impact of urban space on community interaction over time, and expressing the relationship between urban space and community interaction in a quantitative manner. Dr. Abbas assumed that social relationships are linked positively through interactive communication in urban spaces.
The workshop recommended the necessity of preserving the remaining agricultural areas and orchards, preventing the conversion of these agricultural lands to other land uses, preserving urban gathering places, especially in religious places, entertainment clubs, malls and open green spaces, removing the industrial use of the land from residential areas and moving it outside the city and adopting housing.
