Women’s Affairs Unit at the Center of Urban and Regional Planning for Postgraduate Studies at the University of Baghdad, in cooperation with its Scientific Unit held a scientific workshop (homosexuality, its causes and consequences) delivered by the Director of the Scientific Affairs Division at the National Center for Population and Demographic Studies, Assistant Lecturer Fadel Malek Fadel, in accordance with the directives of the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research regarding holding educational and awareness-raising workshops and seminars to reduce the phenomenon of homosexuality. The workshop shed light on the factors and circumstances, which can constitute an appropriate environment for the emergence and growth of this behavior, the paths it can take, and the results and repercussions that may result from it.
The workshop also touched on the most important ways and treatments to confront such behaviors and reduce their dangers and destructive effects, and focused on the role of the family, society, government, and educational and awareness-raising institutions in fortifying and educating society of both genders.
