The Dean of the Center of Urban and Regional Planning for Postgraduate Studies at the University of Baghdad, Professor Dr. Kareem Hassan Alwan, participated in the Iraq Education Expo, accompanied by a number of heads of departments at the mother university, and under the patronage of the Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, Dr. Naeem Al-Aboudi, as well as a number of general directors, university presidents, important figures, and others.
On its second day, the conference sessions addressed topics related to the plan of the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research to support scientific research in Iraqi universities and international cooperation, scientific projects, apply artificial intelligence, and interest in encouraging research teams to increase scientific production, marketing mechanisms, and the roadmap for the entry of Iraqi scientific journals into global databases.
In order to achieve the highest rates of achievement for university formations, which represent the outcome of the careful review and evaluation of the curricular paths and the analysis of their outcomes according to an objective, purposeful vision that enables academic institutions to respond to the requirements of the labor market and achieve the dimensions of community service that summarize the clearest form of academic performance and bearing responsibilities.
The conference participants discussed the development of human resources in government institutions by sending scholarship students to reputable universities and openness to advanced education systems in international universities. The sessions included scientific discussions by a number of academic figures in foreign, Arab and Iraqi universities.
Alwan stated that the conference had presented its most prominent recommendations, which stressed the need for researchers to publish their research in reputable local journals and increase citations to them in order to raise the classification of journals included in international databases, as well as urging foreign teachers to co-publish with foreign researchers in our local fields to support their entry into Scopus and Clarivate.
It is noteworthy that the University of Baghdad presented its most prominent scientific and practical products manufactured within the activities of the conference, which included booths for Iraqi governmental, private, Arab and foreign universities, technology and education companies, and a number of organizations.
