The Center of Urban and Regional Planning for Postgraduate Studies at the University of Baghdad held a workshop titled “Requirements and Conditions for Academic Promotions at Various Ranks.” The workshop was presented by Dr. Dilam Kadhim Suhail, Head of the Academic Promotions Unit at the Center, and attended by faculty members and postgraduate students.

The workshop aimed to enhance faculty members’ skills by addressing the regulations and how to accumulate the required points from the two sets of regulations. It also covered scientific publication, scientific journals, and how to select journals from within scientific databases.

Dr. Suhail also discussed the concept of academic promotions, particularly to the ranks of Lecturer and Assistant Professor, and the most important requirements that faculty members must meet to obtain these academic titles within the framework of the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research, a leading scientific institution.

A discussion followed with the attendees on several points related to faculty members’ academic rights, the role of publishing in reputable local and international journals, and its impact on evaluation and obtaining academic titles within the specified timeframes.
