The Center of Urban and Regional Planning for Postgraduate Studies at the University of Baghdad discussed a master’s thesis entitled (The Urban Emergence of the Edge Cities between Renewal and Adaptation), by the researcher Zainab Yassin Jassim, and under the supervision of the teacher, Dr. Adel Hassan Jassim.
The aim of the thesis was to find out how the urban emergence of the cities of the edges occurred from the mother city, and to know the extent to which the emerging urban centers absorbed the new variables within the context.
The thesis recommended researchers and planners to study the inputs that come to the city, and to know the extent of their impact on the structure of the city in order to take note of those influences and make the best use of them, as well as to follow the policy of decentralized development in planning to absorb the momentum in the central cities, along with the optimal exploitation of the available resources to spend (Al-Madaen) and create a strong economic foundation for it.
