The Center of Urban and Regional Planning for Graduate Studies at the University of Baghdad witnessed the discussion of a master’s thesis entitled “Intelligent Transportation and City Formation / Case Study of Tikrit City” by researcher Teeba Muhammad Mahdi, and under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Mustafa Abdel-Jalil.
The thesis aimed to focus on the importance of intelligent transportation to reduce traffic problems such as congestion and pressure on roads, improving the level of service, and providing comfort and luxury to the population.
The thesis concluded that there is a relationship between transportation and the urban formation of the city within the urban structure through different time stages, and that the activation of intelligent transportation mechanisms lies in the importance of studying city plans. In addition, the activation of intelligent transportation reduces pressure on the streets at rush hours, organizing trips, and achieving comfort for the population.
