The Center of Urban and Regional Planning for Postgraduate Studies at the University of Baghdad witnessed a discussion of the equivalence of the Esperantura PhD degree for the dissertation “Features of Ventilation System for External Improvement of Residential Development under Hot Dry Climate Conditions / Baghdad City as an Example” by researcher Manar Mahmoud Hamad, and supervised by Prof. Dr. Mustafa Abdel Jalil Ibrahim.

The researcher dealt with the problem of formation and development of the external improvement of modern housing, taking into account the comfort requirements according to the ventilation system, and organizing the necessary protection from the high temperature in the region, as there are no current standards for the external improvement of residential buildings in Iraq.

The aim of the dissertation was to develop a method for evaluating the ventilation system for the external improvement of the lands of medium-rise and multi-storey residential buildings in Baghdad City.

The study concluded with the importance of generalizing theoretical scientific knowledge and practical experiences related to considering the ventilation system in the residential development area and classifying the existing housing project in Baghdad according to its storeys and location, and thus developing urban planning procedures, including the development of external landscapes for medium and multi-storey residential buildings, taking into account the local traditions and religious way of life, as well as modern safety requirements of air environment.
