The Center of Urban and Regional Planning for Postgraduate Studies at the University of Baghdad, in collaboration with the Continuing Education Unit, held a training workshop titled “Pension Rights for University Service Employees.” The workshop was presented by Haider Adnan Sadiq, Head of the Center’s Legal Division, and Hadeel Kadhim Fahad, Head of the Legal Division’s Consulting and Litigation Unit.
The workshop addressed the pension rights of university service employees as stipulated by the University Service Law (Law No. 22 of 2008), along with subsequent amendments and related regulations. It covered the calculation of pension entitlements for academic title holders and university service staff, including those working within the Ministry’s headquarters and its affiliated universities.
Sadiq highlighted the end-of-service benefits to which an employee is entitled upon retirement, such as the end-of-service gratuity and compensation for accumulated leave. He further explained the pension entitlements—or the specific pension amount—due to university service employees (holding the academic rank of “Lecturer” or below, as well as those with bachelor’s degrees, diplomas, or secondary school certificates) in accordance with the criteria established by the National Pension Authority.
