The Center of Urban and Regional Planning for Postgraduate Studies at the University of Baghdad held its second periodic meeting of 2026 with the Industrial Advisory Council, chaired by the Dean of the Center, Professor Dr. Kareem Hassan Alwan, and attended by a number of faculty members from the Center and members of the Council from relevant ministries and institutions. The Council reviewed the implementation of recommendations and decisions from previous meetings of the Industrial Advisory Council, discussed progress rates, and considered proposals for their completion. The Council’s agenda also included a discussion on establishing an annual forum for professional partnerships in cooperation with state institutions and the private sector to enhance opportunities for collaboration, training, and employment.

Council members were also briefed on the progress of resuming doctoral studies at the Center and the importance of introducing this program to the labor market.

It is worth noting that the meeting highlighted the possibility of involving state institutions and the private sector in identifying real-world problems and challenges that could be addressed as topics for theses and dissertations in the fields of urban and regional planning, spatial development, and addressing the developmental challenges of institutions, as well as anything that contributes to meeting the needs of society and the labor market.
