The Center of Urban and Regional Planning for Postgraduate Studies at the University of Baghdad signed a scientific cooperation agreement with the College of Urban and Regional Planning at the University of Duhok, in the presence of Professor Dr. Hussein Qasim, Director of the Scientific Affairs Department at the University of Baghdad.

The agreement aims to develop specialized urban planning staff to improve the conditions of cities and rural areas and raise the quality and efficiency of postgraduate studies conducted by both institutions. It also aims to develop teaching systems, tests, and examinations, and enhance teaching and learning methods by establishing a knowledge base that supports the development of student projects, theses, and dissertations, thus strengthening the scientific foundation of the center’s faculty and researchers.

During the signing ceremony, held via Zoom, the Dean of the Center, Professor Dr. Kareem Hassan Alwan, confirmed that the agreement will include joint conferences, seminars, and workshops, as well as the exchange of visits and expertise to build the institutional capacity of both parties. For her part, Professor Dr. Laila Mohammed Rasoul, Dean of the College of Urban Planning at the University of Duhok, expressed her desire to expand the scope of this agreement in the near future by conducting joint studies to improve urban planning and development in Iraq and globally. It is worth mentioning that the center seeks to conclude various scientific agreements with a number of academic bodies that serve the knowledge journey of the parent university and contribute to raising its ranking regionally and globally.
