Professor Dr. Kareem Hassan Alwan, Dean of the Center of Urban and Regional Planning for Postgraduate Studies, attended the art exhibition commemorating the Arba’een Pilgrimage, organized by the Student Activities Department at the University of Baghdad. The exhibition was inaugurated by Professor Dr. Raghad Abdul-Razzaq, Assistant President of the University of Baghdad for Administrative Affairs, and in the presence of Dr. Nadhir Jabbar Al-Hindawi, Scientific Assistant of the Karbala Center for Studies and Research, along with a large number of academics and other visitors.
Alwan emphasized that the exhibition aimed to document the meanings of sacrifice and devotion that originated from the Battle of Karbala and to reaffirm the continued presence of these principles in the conscience of the nation through the commemoration of the Arba’een Pilgrimage of Imam Hussein (peace be upon him). This pilgrimage has become the largest religious gathering in the world, as it embodies the values of Imam Hussein’s (peace be upon him) uprising, particularly his defense of truth and his confrontation of falsehood. The exhibition included a collection of works that showcased scenes from the pilgrims’ journey and artistic sculptures that embody the epic of Karbala, along with paintings and expressive artifacts that evoke the values for which Imam Hussein (peace be upon him) stood, such as justice, dignity, and the rejection of humiliation and surrender.
