The Center of Urban and Regional Planning for Postgraduate Studies at the University of Baghdad received the Institutional Accreditation Standards Committee of the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research for an official visit to monitor the implementation of institutional accreditation standards and assess the center’s level of compliance. The committee was welcomed by the Dean of the Center, Professor Dr. Kareem Hassan Alwan, and his assistant for scientific affairs, Professor Dr. Muheeb Kamel Faleh. The committee reviewed the self-assessment reports and documents and met with the Head of the Quality Assurance Unit, Assistant Professor Dr. Sarah Mahmoud, to discuss the mechanisms for implementing the standards, as well as to review the center’s ongoing development and improvement plans.

The committee toured the center to view its achievements, such as the Baghdad Panorama, the center’s museum, and the practical projects of its postgraduate students. They commended the center’s high academic performance and commitment to the quality of its academic output since its establishment in 1971.

It is worth noting that the visit of the Institutional Accreditation Committee reflects the vision of the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research to enhance the quality of academic and administrative performance in Iraqi universities, and to verify the extent to which the policies and procedures adopted in the University of Baghdad, with all its formations, comply with the national standards for governance and management, human and material resources, academic programs, scientific research, as well as student services and community service.
