The Dean of the Center of Urban and Regional Planning for Postgraduate Studies at the University of Baghdad, Professor Kareem Hassan Alwan, held an expanded meeting with members of the Occupational Safety and Civil Defense Committee to discuss occupational safety measures at the center, coinciding with the summer vacation and the soaring temperatures.

During the meeting, Alwan directed the removal of the warehouses constructed with sandwich panels, based on instructions from the University of Baghdad Presidency. He also directed the preparation of new warehouses to store the center’s furniture and other items in accordance with safety standards to avoid the possibility of electrical shorts and fires, God forbid.

The Dean, accompanied by the committee, toured the center’s warehouses to inspect them prior to their removal. He instructed the committee to inventory their contents according to general procedures, ensuring they are stored in appropriate and secure locations.

Furthermore, the Center for Urban and Regional Planning is organizing general maintenance campaigns for all center facilities, taking advantage of the summer vacation to prepare the center for the upcoming academic year. This includes ensuring electrical outlets and water taps are properly secured and that fire extinguishers are provided on all floors of the center as part of civil defense measures to protect public funds.
