The Center of Psychological and Educational Research, in cooperation with the Center of Urban and Regional Planning, organized a scientific workshop entitled “The Psychological and Educational Dimensions of the Arbaeen Pilgrimage.” The workshop was sponsored and attended by the President of the University of Baghdad, Professor Dr. Bahaa Ibrahim Insaf. The workshop was also attended by the Director of the Center for Psychological and Educational Research, Professor Dr. Fadhel Al-Saadi, and the Dean of the Higher Institute of Accounting and Financial Studies, Assistant Professor Dr. Ali Al-Maamouri. The workshop was also attended by Professor Dr. Nazir Jabbar Al-Hindawi, Scientific Assistant of the Karbala Center for Studies and Research and Chairman of the Scientific Committee of the Ninth International Scientific Conference on the Arbaeen Pilgrimage, accompanied by Mr. Hassan Al-Husseini from the Specialized Studies Department at the same center. The workshop also included a host of academics and researchers specializing in educational and psychological affairs, as well as other guests.

The workshop aimed to address the profound psychological dimensions associated with the behavior of pilgrims and their impact on strengthening societal resilience. It also reviewed the educational aspects of the Arbaeen pilgrimage as a means of strengthening religious and human values ​​among individuals, based on an analytical reading of the educational impact of the Arbaeen rituals on people.

The Dean of the Center for Urban and Regional Planning for Graduate Studies, Professor Dr. Kareem Hassan Alwan, delivered a speech in which he emphasized the importance of the conference, scheduled to be held in Karbala next August. He emphasized the conference’s importance as a unique opportunity to pool expertise and explore spiritual, religious, and human dimensions by building bridges of communication between cultures and rejecting violence and extremism. The conference’s outcomes aim to strengthen the civilizational project, encourage studies and research, and highlight the role of human values ​​by providing an appropriate scientific environment.

The workshop’s research papers addressed the psychological, behavioral, and educational aspects of the Arbaeen pilgrimage and its impact on the individual and society. Other papers explored the cognitive interplay between the human and societal dimensions.
