The Center for Urban and Regional Planning for Postgraduate Studies at the University of Baghdad held a workshop entitled (Smart Cities Concepts in Urban Planning) delivered by the lecturer at the center, Dr. Enas Diaa Hadi. The workshop dealt with innovation and smart city concepts in urban planning and the role of leadership in developing cities that rely on technology and innovation, starting from the city and infrastructure services and their systems, reaching the concepts of the Internet of Things and introducing artificial intelligence models in smart building management.

The workshop aimed to encourage innovation and creative thinking in urban planning and the shift towards studying smart city models to cities that are more efficient in providing services. Hadi recommended the necessity of urging students to conduct extensive studies on the shift towards smart management and the possibility of applying this in the semester project, and identifying the problems facing the shift towards it in our cities by reaching solutions that ensure this shift, starting from smart institutional management, education and health systems, and infrastructure services, reaching the remaining systems, with the importance of attracting talents and expertise as smart social capital, in conjunction with activating the smart economy and business economy, attracting smart investments and studying smart environmental systems that ensure reducing energy consumption.
