The Dean of the Center of Urban and Regional Planning for Postgraduate Studies at the University of Baghdad, Professor Dr. Kareem Hassan Alwan, attended the final qualifiers for the Ramadan Qur’anic competition at the University of Baghdad, under the slogan (By the Qur’an we rise and by it we meet) with the participation of students of colleges and institutes. It was held in Al-Salam Hall in the College of Information, under the supervision and presence of the University President, Professor Dr. Bahaa Ibrahim Ansaf, as well as the Dean of the Faculty of Information, Professor Dr. Ammar Taher. Alwan confirmed that the University hosted the second session of the competition with the aim of encouraging university youth to engage in recitation and chanting of the Holy Qur’an and raise the level of religious awareness among students.
The preliminary qualifiers included multiple rounds of recitations, memorization and interpretation, with the participation of a large number of students who demonstrated their Qur’anic skills remarkably, while a committee composed of an elite group of specialists in the study and experience of judging and mastering narratives of the Holy Qur’an judged the competition and selected 10 contestants to qualify for the final qualifiers.
It should be noted that the Center of Psychological Research in the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research supervised the organization of the competition in cooperation with the divisions and units of student activities in the university formations for the second year in a row, which was held in conjunction with the holy month of Ramadan.
