The Center of Urban and Regional Planning for Postgraduate Studies at the University of Baghdad organized a workshop entitled (The Role of International Law in Reducing the Phenomenon of Illegal Migration), delivered by a lecturer at the Women’s Research Center, Assistant Professor Dr. Sinan Salah Rashid, in cooperation with the Women’s Empowerment Coordination at the Center. The workshop addressed the definition of the concept of illegal immigration, legitimacy, its risks, and the most important factors causing it. It also explained the difficulties facing immigrants in the security, social, economic, and cultural aspects, while the workshop reviewed the international agreements on the phenomenon of illegal immigration, and international statistics on immigrants and their living and health conditions.

Rashid explained the negative effects of illegal immigration and its impact on the security and economic aspects of the country and the most important solutions that must be taken to reduce the phenomenon and ways to invest youth and human energies to build society and the country. Rashid reached a set of recommendations and results, the most prominent of which was urging youth and women to adhere to the national spirit as well as the international role in Investing in youth through projects that benefit their homeland. A group of photos were also presented documenting the negative effects of illegal immigration.
