The Center of Urban and Regional Planning for Postgraduate Studies at the University of Baghdad hosted a scientific symposium on (Early Detection of Uterine Cancer), which was organized by the National Pioneering Center for Cancer Research in cooperation with the Women’s Empowerment Unit at the Urban Planning Center, coinciding with the 16-day campaign to combat violence against women. The symposium, which was delivered by Assistant Professor Dr. Kawakib Najmuddin Abdullah, a lecturer at the Cancer Research Center, aimed to to introduce uterine cancer, its causes, its most prominent symptoms, and how to prevent it, in addition to raising awareness of health matters and promoting periodic and routine examinations to diagnose health problems in women early before they become more severe.
The symposium also discussed the latest medical innovations and the most prominent methods for early detection and prevention of this type of cancer by introducing the locations of screening, treatment and vaccine centers, as those interested can obtain the necessary services to maintain their health and early detection of any potential health problems.
This symposium comes within the extracurricular activities of the Women’s Empowerment Unit at the Urban Planning Center to advance the reality of women at all levels, in light of a healthy social environment that enhances their leadership and academic role.
