A delegation from the Planning Consultancy Bureau at the Center of Urban and Regional Planning for Postgraduate Studies at the University of Baghdad visited the Spanish capital, Madrid, accompanied by a high-level delegation from the Mosul Governorate and its municipality.

The delegation visited the capital, Madrid, heading to Citadel University to view the curricula related to architecture and other sciences. The delegation of the center visited the city of Barcelona and was informed of its old city, which was rehabilitated in an urban style, thus transferring the Spanish experience in rehabilitating ancient cities and implementing them in Mosul.

The director of the Planning Consultancy Bureau at the center, Dr. Falah Mahdi, assured that the visit also included the cities of Terracotta and Girona, as they contain beautiful historical parts, most of which have been renovated and have become a global tourist destination. He pointed out that another visit, in which the delegation concluded its trip, included a historical part that was restored and renovated in the city of Valencia and Cordoba, to see the rehabilitation experience of infrastructure and urban treatments of old buildings and alleys, so that the committee supervising the reconstruction and the Planning Cpo have a store of information and pictures related to details and completion.

This visit comes in implementation of a paragraph of the contract between the Planning Consultancy Bureau and the Mosul Governorate regarding transferring the European urban experience and implementing it within the campaign to reconstruct the right side of Mosul, which adopted the designs of the Bureau, especially on the riverfront of the city, by visiting some European cities.

It is noteworthy that the delegation of the Bureau stressed during their stay in Spain the necessity of holding meetings between various local and international actors, to exchange information and refine experiences, and then establish a partnership of professional engineers, construction companies and investors to contribute to the reconstruction process of Mosul, in addition to promoting economic development there.
