The Industrial Advisory Committee at the Center of Urban and Regional Planning for Postgraduate Studies at the University of Baghdad held its first meeting to discuss a number of practical issues, headed by the Dean of the Center, Professor Dr. Kareem Hassan Alwan, and in the presence of the General Director of the Department of Local and Regional Development in the Ministry of Planning, Dr. Muhammad Mohsen Al-Sayyid, and the General Director of the Department of Designs in the Ministry of Construction and Housing, Dr. Hassan Maddeb Mahjam, and Assistant General Director of the Design Department in Baghdad Municipality, Dr. Nidaa Hussein Abd, as well as a number of teachers at the Center.
A number of important topics were discussed at the meeting that would contribute to strengthening the center’s scientific standing. The meeting also touched on developing curricula to serve the labor market and its modern requirements, and striving to resume doctoral studies at the Center after it had been suspended for several years, as well as coordination between the center and relevant institutions in order to increase the prospects for joint cooperation to train the students of the Center and allocate adequate practical space for them.
The meeting included developing a number of proposals and recommendations that contribute to serving the educational process at the Center, and the Dean of the Center stressed the necessity of holding conferences, scientific workshops, and events that would enhance the standing of the Center and communicating with relevant institutions.
