The Director of the Planning Consultancy Bureau at the Center of Urban and Regional Planning for Postgraduate Studies at the University of Baghdad, Dr. Falah Mahdi, participated in an extensive workshop organized by the Municipality of Mosul to discuss the latest developments in the design of the river front for the old city of Mosul.
The workshop, which was held in the hall of the Engineers Association in Mosul, discussed ways to establish the project while preserving the Mosul heritage, as well as discussing the architectural and technical obstacles and challenges.
Dr. Mahdi stressed in his presentation that the submitted designs will preserve the Mosul folklore and its urban heritage with a modern service character, and will provide many job opportunities because the project will include various service facilities, and it will be a prestigious urban interface that adopts engineering expertise provided by the Consultancy Bureau at the Center of Urban Planning.
It was agreed to hold extensive workshops and meetings in the presence of the Consultancy Bureau, specialists and academics, drawing on the expertise possessed by UNESCO members in this field.
It is noteworthy that the workshop included a number of engineers, academics and specialists in heritage, antiquities and architecture, as well as officials in state departments.
