The Center of Urban and Regional Planning for Postgraduate Studies at the University of Baghdad participated in a specialized meeting regarding the visual identity of the city of Baghdad. The event was organized and supervised by the National Security Advisory and attended by a distinguished group of academics and specialists in the fields of planning, urban development, and culture.

During the meeting, the Center’s Dean, Prof. Dr. Kareem Hassan Alwan, emphasized that the initiative aimed to enhance Baghdad’s visual identity and highlight its historical and civilizational heritage, as well as its unique urban and cultural character. The goal was to preserve the capital’s authenticity and intellectual depth while simultaneously keeping pace with the requirements of modernity and urban development.
The meeting featured the presentation of various visions, ideas, and proposals designed to help formulate a comprehensive strategy for elevating the capital’s urban landscape. These proposals aimed to reinforce Baghdad’s stature as a city of history, civilization, art, culture, and beauty, in a manner befitting its status and heritage.

The Center was represented at the meeting by Prof. Dr. Amer Shaker Khudair, Assist. Prof. Dr. Ammar Khalil Ibrahim, and Assist. Prof. Dr. Zahraa Imad.

The Center’s participation underscores its academic and advisory role in addressing urban and planning issues that impact Baghdad’s future. It also highlights the Center’s contribution of scientific and planning insights aimed at preserving the capital’s identity and enhancing its urban landscape by harmonizing authenticity with contemporary design.
