Dr. Abdul-Wahab Ahmed, Head of the University Psychological Counseling Unit at the University of Baghdad’s Center of Urban and Regional Planning for Postgraduate Studies, participated in a forum on university psychological counseling held under the theme: “University Psychological Counseling: A Shared Responsibility for Building a Safe and Stable Educational Environment.” The event was attended by the University President, Prof. Dr. Alaa Abdul-Hassan Attia Al-Zughaibi, along with heads of counseling units from various university departments, as well as a group of academics and specialists in psychological and educational counseling. Organized by the Center for Educational and Psychological Research, the forum aimed to discuss mechanisms for enhancing psychological and educational counseling services.

Dr. Ahmed emphasized that the forum sought to unify perspectives and refine the operational mechanisms of counseling units. These efforts aim to bolster psychological and educational support for students and establish a counseling system that is more effective and responsive to the needs of the university environment.

The forum also featured a session dedicated to showcasing positive initiatives and successful experiences implemented by various university departments, while discussing the potential to adopt and apply these models across other units.

Notably, the University President underscored the vital role of psychological counseling in fostering a safe and supportive university environment that enables students to achieve success and excellence. He reaffirmed the university administration’s ongoing support for counseling units across colleges and departments, stressing the importance of further developing their operations.
