The Continuing Education Unit at the Center of Urban and Regional Planning for Postgraduate Studies at the University of Baghdad held a workshop entitled “How to Write an Academic Research Paper in Correct Arabic.” The workshop was presented by Mr. Thamer Khalaf Al-Sudani, a lecturer at the center, and attended by a number of professors, staff members, and postgraduate students. The workshop aimed to highlight common errors in research papers for faculty members and theses for students, as well as the proper use of relative pronouns, the particles “inna” and its sisters, and other grammatical rules that researchers must adhere to in their writing to avoid grammatical errors that alter the intended meaning or the idea being conveyed.

Several examples were presented illustrating these errors and the unnecessary repetition in sentence structure that distorts the flow of the Arabic language. It is worth noting that the workshop also commemorated World Arabic Language Day and other international language days, which reflect national and cultural identity and belonging to the language and the homeland.
