The Center of Urban and Regional Planning, Graduate Studies, University of Baghdad, witnessed the discussion of the master’s thesis entitled (Evaluation of the urban environment in residential complexes in the city of Karbala) by the student Shahzanan Ahmed Mazhar, and supervised by Professor Dr. Jamal Baqir Mutlaq. The thesis aimed to evaluate the urban environment in residential complexes in Karbala in order to address the aspects that suffer from weakness, relying on the descriptive analytical approach to show the degree of satisfaction of residents within a random sample of two different residential complexes.
The student indicated in her thesis that there are significant differences between the two complexes in favor of one of the investment residential complexes, which means that it is better in terms of the urban environment. The thesis also recommended the necessity of taking into account the results of the evaluation that was carried out in the research and adopting it as a proposed study to raise the level of quality of the urban environment in residential complexes, and working to involve and educate residents in evaluating the locations of the urban environment, and providing the security element, in addition to paying attention to green and recreational areas and working to reduce the level of pollution within the complexes, in addition to activating public transportation services after giving priority to support and improvement in the level of the urban environment.
