Planning consultancy bureau director Dr. Falah Mahdi at the Center of Urban and Regional Planning for Postgraduate Studies attended an expanded meeting with the Director of Mosul Municipality, Eng. Abdul Sattar Al-Habbo and his assistants for technical and service affairs and the supervisory committee to discuss the detailed designs submitted by the bureau, related to the development of the riverfront of the old city of Mosul, which includes the river corniche, houses, tourism and commercial activities, and other folklore and tourism activities that Mosul was known for.
Dr. Falah Mahdi confirmed that it was agreed with the director of the municipality of Mosul to complete the study of the designs presented by the Center last December, and to present them in the final form within the fourth phase of detailed designs, in preparation for the start of the implementation phase that will make the old city the starting point of a remarkable project. This project is the first of its kind in Iraq, and with it Mosul becomes a famous tourist destination.
Dr. Falah stated that the project will restore life to the heritage area in Mosul by designing the corniche and parks, as well as designing 300 Mosuli heritage houses to complete the riverfront overlooking the Tigris River on the right side of the city, in a standard implementation period of 6 months or a little more.
