The Women’s Affairs Unit at the Center for Urban and Regional Planning for Graduate Studies at the University of Baghdad held a workshop titled “The Importance of Choosing Academic Majors for Women.” The workshop was delivered by the Center’s Assistant Dean, Professor Dr. Muhib Kamil Falih, and attended by the Center’s female students.
The workshop aimed to highlight the importance of choosing appropriate academic majors for women, their compatibility with the labor market, and the challenges women face in practice, whether in the public or private sectors. The workshop also reviewed the general path of the urban and regional planning major, highlighting the most important advantages and obstacles women face in this field, as well as the challenges they face in certain areas. It also reviewed the sectors in which women thrive, based on their academic specialization.
The workshop recommended identifying academic majors that align with the needs of the labor market for women and training women in the best modern academic programs to empower women in the fields of work and community development.
