Professor Dr. Areej Khairi Al-Rawi, a faculty member at the Center of Urban and Regional Planning for Postgraduate Studies at the University of Baghdad, participated in the second meeting of the Sustainable Cities Management Committee, held at the Ministry of Construction and Housing. The meeting was attended by members of the Ministry of Construction and Housing, as well as representatives from the Ministries of Environment and Planning, and a committee from the Council of Ministers.

Dr. Al-Rawi emphasized that the committee’s second meeting focused on policies and strategies for the sustainable management of cities and their implementation mechanisms, in accordance with sustainable policies and the Green City Standard, as developed by the relevant ministries.

Dr. Al-Rawi also noted that the committee discussed improving the efficiency of urban services and balancing the environmental, social, and economic dimensions of urban development after applying resource efficiency standards. The meeting also addressed developing sustainable transportation and adopting green architecture to improve the quality of life for current city residents while ensuring the ability of future generations to meet their needs.
