The Women’s Affairs Unit at the Center of Urban and Regional Planning for Postgraduate Studies at the University of Baghdad, in cooperation with the Continuing Education Unit, organized a scientific symposium entitled “Human Development and Strengthening the Role of Women.” The symposium aimed to highlight the extent of women’s contribution to achieving community health and their role in human development as a fundamental and effective element in achieving the requirements of human development, which is a fundamental pillar of sustainable development. The symposium also reviewed the political achievements and challenges facing women and effective strategies for enhancing women’s political participation.
The symposium aimed to enhance the role of women in community health and develop effective strategies for women’s political involvement and achieving human development requirements. The symposium addressed women’s capabilities in achieving community health and empowering Iraqi women in human development between reality, ambition, and a sustainable future. Women contribute to strengthening the local economy and diversifying sources of income. Furthermore, women play an important role in preserving the environment and natural resources through their participation in various fields, such as sustainable agriculture and water management.
It is noteworthy that the workshop included a lecture entitled (Women in Politics: From Challenges to Achievements and the Challenges Facing Women in Politics in Iraq), which reviewed women’s achievements in politics.
