The Center of Urban and Regional Planning for Postgraduate Studies at the University of Baghdad, in cooperation with the Follow-up Unit at the Iraqi National Security Center and Service, held an awareness workshop entitled “Together We Combat the Scourge of Drugs and Drug Abuse.” The workshop was attended by the Center’s deanship, faculty, and staff, as well as graduate students.

The workshop aimed to raise awareness of the dangers of drugs and their negative effects on individuals and society, discuss the role of academic institutions in combating this phenomenon, and highlight the efforts of security agencies and educational institutions in combating drugs and raising awareness of their dangers.

The workshop also addressed ways to prevent addiction and the importance of raising community awareness of this issue.

A dialogue was opened to enrich the workshop’s outcomes regarding the need for concerted efforts between government agencies, academic institutions, and civil society organizations to combat the phenomenon of drug use, educate youth, and raise awareness among them to protect them from this scourge.

This workshop is part of the Center’s series of extracurricular activities, part of its social responsibility and commitment to fostering a healthy, risk-free academic environment that achieves one of the sustainable development goals of ensuring a healthy life and enhancing community well-being.
