The Construction and Projects Unit is one of the units of the Urban and Regional Planning Center for Postgraduate Studies and is administratively linked to the Dean of the Center and the Construction and Projects Department in the Presidency of the University of Baghdad. It includes engineering, technical and administrative cadres with different specializations who perform the tasks assigned to them as a single team that is characterized by a spirit of cooperation and sharing experiences among its members to improve the urban reality of the Urban and Regional Planning Center for Postgraduate Studies. The department is concerned with implementing and supervising construction, electrical and mechanical projects that serve the center. These projects are within certain sections, including direct implementation, where they are prepared and implemented by the center and the projects are financed directly by the department’s cadres, as the department forms technical engineering committees from its employees to prepare quantity tables for the materials required for the work and implement and receive projects within certain standard specifications. Others are prepared and financed from outside the center as investment plan projects, where they are financed by the presidency of the University of Baghdad and implemented as contracts by specialized governmental or private companies. This is organized by the Government Contracts Division in the center. The role of the department is to provide technical engineering supervision over the implementation of the work as well as organize administrative matters related to the implementation of projects. The Construction and Projects Department participates with other departments of the center in the context of its work to complete its tasks completely from the financial and supervisory aspect, as well as continuous communication with the engineering consulting office affiliated with the center and other consulting offices to provide appropriate engineering solutions in implementation and thus obtain the best results in completing the center’s projects.
