Proceedings of the Fifth Session of the Center’s Supervisory Board for the Academic Year 2025-2026
The Center’s Supervisory Board held its fifth meeting for the academic year 2025-2026 on Sunday, November 23, 2025, at the Center’s building. The meeting was chaired by the Dean, Professor Dr. Karim Hassan Alwan, and attended by the members of the Board.
The minutes of the previous meeting (the fourth) for the academic year 2025-2026, held on October 22, 2025, were approved.
Faculty members were instructed to post their teaching schedules and assignments on their office doors and submit a copy to the Dean’s office.
Supervisors were directed to make optimal use of the research infrastructure and material resources.
Cooperation with the House of Wisdom in organizing conferences and seminars was discussed.
The Board approved the amendment of the first extension period requested by a Master’s student from six months to three months. The supervisory board approved the formation of a committee to examine the Master’s thesis of student Safa Khalil Ibrahim, entitled “Overcrowding and its Impact on Public Health.”
Approval was granted for the first extension of study for students in the Higher Professional Diploma program whose registration had been cancelled and who were subsequently reinstated, subject to regulations. This extension will be presented to the University Council.
The title of the Master’s thesis was amended.
Supervisors and faculty members were reminded to uphold intellectual and academic integrity.
Adherence to the regulations governing the formation of scientific committees and graduate studies committees was emphasized.
The formation of the supervisory committee for the Fusion Plasma and Sustainable Energy project was reviewed.
Proceedings of the Fourth Session of the Center’s Supervisory Board for the Academic Year 2025-2026
The Center’s Supervisory Board held its fourth meeting for the academic year 2025-2026 on Wednesday, October 22, 2025, at the Center’s building. The meeting was chaired by the Dean, Professor Dr. Karim Hassan Alwan, and attended by the members of the Center’s Board:
Approval of the minutes of the previous meeting (the third) for the academic year 2025-2026, held on October 5, 2025.
Emphasis on following up on the reports of the Financial Control Bureau and attending the training courses for accountants and auditors.
Directive to support staff and students with chronic illnesses and facilitate their work, taking into account the difficult circumstances they and their families are facing.
Review of the mechanism for engaging visiting professors and how to settle the associated contractual obligations. The board approved the request submitted for Assistant Lecturer Mustafa Abbas Jawad to be granted leave for scientific research for the 2025-2026 academic year, one day per week.
The supervisory board reviewed the report from the head of the registration department at our center regarding a student’s exceeding the permitted absence limit in the Higher Professional Diploma program, first semester, 2025-2026 academic year. This followed the issuance of initial and final warnings to the student in several courses, in accordance with Article 21 of the Postgraduate Studies Regulations, which stipulates that if a student’s absence in any course exceeds twice the number of weekly hours for that course, the student’s registration for that course is canceled, provided that the remaining credit hours are not less than 10. The board recommended approving the termination (cancellation) of the Higher Professional Diploma student’s registration.
The board also recommended approving the replacement and change of the external examiner’s name and initiating the nomination process and contacting qualified professors who meet the external examiner requirements. The supervisory board approved the formation of a committee to examine the Master’s thesis of student Rasel Fares Hussein.

The supervisory board discussed the report of the Quality Assurance Unit at our center, which included the academic performance evaluation report for the center’s staff and faculty for the 2023-2024 academic year. The board listened to the problems, obstacles, and changes that accompanied the evaluation process, as presented by the head of the Quality Assurance Unit. The board also reviewed the results of the evaluation with those of the 2022-2023 academic year, noting the points of improvement and decline between the two evaluations.
The council members reviewed the letter from the University Council Secretariat, number (6959), dated (October 14, 2025), regarding the approval of the minutes of the center’s council meeting, third session, for the 2025-2026 academic year. The Council members reviewed the University Council Secretariat’s letter No. (6770) dated (October 5, 2025) regarding the approval of paragraph (A-4) of the minutes of the fifteenth open session, for implementation thereof.
The Council members reviewed the Graduate Studies Department’s letter No. (6694) dated (October 1, 2025) concerning the updated form (512 updated for 2025) for applications to establish graduate studies, for implementation thereof.
The Council members reviewed the University Council Secretariat’s letter No. (6646) dated (September 29, 2025) regarding the suspension of the honorary degree until further notice, for implementation thereof.
Proceedings of the Third Session of the Center’s Supervisory Board for the Academic Year 2025-2026
The Center’s Supervisory Board held its third meeting for the academic year 2025-2026 on Sunday, October 5, 2025.
The minutes of the previous meeting (the second) for the academic year 2025-2026, held on September 21, 2025, were approved.
The Board emphasized the commitment to maintaining a safe academic environment and ensuring that university activities are not used for purposes that compromise the neutrality and sanctity of the university environment.
The Board stressed the importance of preparing classrooms and providing all necessary supplies.
The Board corrected the membership dates of its members.
The Board terminated the enrollment of a Master’s student due to their failure to attend classes during the first semester of the 2025-2026 academic year. Termination of the Master’s student’s registration (cancellation of her enrollment) due to her failure to attend classes during the first semester of the 2025-2026 academic year. She had previously been deferred to the 2024-2025 academic year. The Registration Department at the center contacted her, and she confirmed her inability to begin classes this year.
Approval of the Master’s thesis topics for students of the 49th cohort/second session who passed, after the center’s scientific committee submitted the necessary revisions to evaluate the students’ proposed titles. These revisions aimed to ensure the topics aligned with global scientific and research trends and were relevant to the job market and community needs.
Approval of the professional Higher Diploma project topics for students whose registration had been cancelled and who were subsequently reinstated according to the established regulations.
Recommendation to implement the contents of the Graduate Studies Department’s letter regarding encouraging students to complete their theses on the core themes of the National Security Strategy, with the aim of acting accordingly. It is recommended that the following guidelines be followed: The Department of Graduate Studies directs supervisors to adhere to accuracy, academic integrity, and professional standards when determining the completion percentages of the theses they supervise.
The University Council Secretariat’s directive granting an additional six months for publishing research related to the 2022-2023 academic plan is recommended for implementation.
The University Council Secretariat’s directive suspending the awarding of honorary degrees until further notice is issued is recommended for implementation.
Proceedings of the Second Session of the Center’s Supervisory Board for the Academic Year 2025-2026
The Center’s Supervisory Board held its second meeting for the academic year 2025-2026 on Sunday, September 21, 2025:
The minutes of the Board’s previous meeting (the first) for the academic year 2025-2026, held on September 11, 2025, were approved.
The Board directed the continuation of postgraduate teaching and the provision of a suitable educational environment to achieve the highest standards of academic excellence in postgraduate studies.
The Board directed the preparation of classrooms and the provision of all necessary equipment.
In view of the completion of the requirements for obtaining a Master’s degree by Master’s students (Adnan Ibrahim Abdullah, Hadeel Alaa Burhan, Hajim Hamed Ali, Maitham Alwan Shanawa, and Ijlal Hassan Aziz) and their successful defense examination, approval has been granted to award them Master’s degrees.
Approval of a scientific study addressing a problem in Iraqi society, submitted by Assistant Professor Dr. Suad Jaber Lafteh and Assistant Lecturer Shamous Abdul Sattar Abdul Jabbar, entitled “How to Control the Pollutant Cloud in the Al-Dora Area.” Approval of the results of the first and second semester examinations/second session for the academic year (2024-2025).
Recommendation to approve the admission plan for the academic year 2026-2027 (Master’s and Higher Professional Diploma programs), consisting of (6) general admission seats and (6) private-funding admission seats within the Higher Professional Diploma program, and (23) general admission seats and (22) private-funding admission seats within the Master’s program.
Proceedings of the First Session of the Center’s Supervisory Board for the Academic Year 2025-2026
The Center’s Supervisory Board held its first meeting for the academic year 2025-2026 on Thursday, September 11, 2025.
The minutes of the previous meeting (the twenty-sixth) of the academic year 2024-2025, held on August 26, 2025, were approved.
The Board directed the follow-up on student data entry into the SIS system and urged students to activate their accounts.
Employees were urged to complete their data within the Human Resources (HR) system.
The Board directed the Civil Defense Committees to monitor occupational safety procedures, provide for their needs, and submit follow-up reports to the university.
The Board directed the uploading of research papers to the Iraqi Scientific Journals website.
The Board approved the research papers submitted by the Center’s faculty members for the academic year 2024-2025/Group Four. In light of the completion of the Master’s degree requirements by Master’s students (Abu Turab Na’ma Muhammad, Hala Sadiq Kamil, and Ahmed Muhammad Naji) and their successful defense examination, approval was granted to award them Master’s degrees.
A scientific study addressing a problem in Iraqi society, submitted by Assistant Professor Dr. Sarah Mahmoud Habiter and Lecturer Dr. Falah Mahdi Hadi, entitled “Developing an Environmental Stress Index in Urban Areas,” was approved.
The necessary resources were provided to the Quality Assurance Unit at the Center to complete the annual performance evaluation for the year 2024-2025 and to follow up with faculty and staff to complete their files.
