The Center of Urban and Regional Planning for Postgraduate Studies at the University of Baghdad organized a scientific workshop entitled (Artificial Intelligence and Urban Planning) under the supervision of the Dean of the Center, Professor Dr. Kareem Hassan Alwan, and presented by the lecturer at the Nahrain Research Center for Renewable Energy at the University of Nahrain, Assistant Lecturer Zaher Fadhel Rahm, in the presence of professors from the two centers, graduate students and others. The workshop dealt with the history of the use of artificial intelligence and its concept and linking artificial intelligence to smart cities in light of the urban planning uses of artificial intelligence and ways to benefit from it in planning smart cities.

Rahm explained the most important uses of artificial intelligence in urban planning as it enters into waste management and the method of recycling and disposing of it and developing solutions in the field of energy and maintaining buildings, managing them and protecting them in conjunction with managing green spaces for cities. The Dean of the Center urged the necessity of choosing artificial intelligence topics in research and scientific theses for professors and students to keep pace with developments in the field of planning and benefit from modern technology for urban planning.
