The Assistant President of the University of Baghdad for Administrative Affairs, Vice Dean and Dean of the Center for Urban and Regional Planning for Postgraduate Studies, Professor Dr. Kareem Hassan Alwan, participated in the activities of the first conference for technological and scientific incubators, which was hosted by University of Baghdad in the presence of the Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, Dr. Naeem Al-Aboudi, and the ministry’s deputies, and with the participation of the Parliamentary Education Committee. The conference proceedings opened with a speech by the Minister of Education, Dr. Al-Aboudi, who announced the launch of technological and scientific incubators in Iraqi universities and the continued support of innovation and entrepreneurship and the promotion of national economic development, after praising the role of the ministry and its formations in sustainable development through its research policy and partnership links to achieve a quality environment through its contribution to supporting innovation. Leadership to enhance economic development and provide a package of services by transforming innovative ideas into successful entrepreneurial projects.
The Undersecretary for Scientific Research Affairs, Dr. Haider Abd Dahd, gave a presentation during the conference activities about technological and scientific incubators and the advantages they will provide in the field of solutions related to employing graduates and benefiting from their ideas on the ground.
For his part, Dr. Alwan stressed during his meeting with a number of academics that the University of Baghdad is a pioneer in scientific achievement to support the labor market, in addition to global and Arab partnerships and openness to universities to catch up with the modern global trend, stressing the importance of advancing the scientific reality and creating a solid knowledge environment that derives its strength from technological incubators and thus transforms To productive universities that support the labor market according to economic feasibility in cooperation with all supporting sectors.
The conference included discussion sessions that highlighted the achievements of Iraqi higher education and universities in the period following the Corona pandemic in terms of publication in global databases, patents, authorship, and other products that provided Iraq’s global ranking, especially after Iraq obtained first place in the Arab world and seventh in the world in the ranking.
