The Dean of the Center of Urban and Regional Planning for Postgraduate Studies, Professor Dr. Kareem Hassan Alwan, participated in the activities of the Intellectual Property Week in Iraq’s universities, which was organized by the Central Organization for Standardization and Quality Control at the University of Baghdad under the slogan (Intellectual Property and Sustainable Development Goals…Building our common future with innovation and creativity) in the presence of the President of the University Baghdad, Professor Dr. Bahaa Ibrahim Ensaf, Assistant President of the University for Scientific Affairs, Professor Dr. Suhail Najm Abdullah, and a number of college deans, professors, and other guests.

Alwan pointed out that the President of the University of Baghdad emphasized in his speech the importance of legal protection for intellectual property, as it depends to a large extent on the creative intellectual production provided by its citizens with creative minds in various scientific fields, indicating that the mother university is working to establish a center specialized in intellectual property rights and development. Sustainable education encourages intellectual production in accordance with international standards.

For his part, the head of the Central Agency for Standardization and Quality Control, Dr. Hussein Ali Dawoud, praised the scientific and academic role of the University of Baghdad, especially after the increase in the index of its scientific research published in the Scopus database to more than 25,670 research papers, in addition to the completion of 67 patents in the last two years, which were chosen. From the Ministry of Planning to host the Conference on Intellectual Property Rights and Sustainable Development because of its scientific standing and great achievements at the local, Arab and global levels.

The shield of the Central Organization for Standardization and Quality Control was presented to the University of Baghdad and the participating parties, out of belief in the power of positive intellectual progress to build a sustainable future.
