The Dean of the Center of Urban and Regional Planning for Postgraduate Studies, Professor Dr. Kareem Hassan Alwan, chaired a master’s discussion committee at the College of Law at the University of Baghdad, entitled (The legal Organization of the Administration Concerned with Urban Planning and its Role in Reducing Desertification in Iraqi Legislation – a Comparative Study), by the student Asmaa Iyad Obaid, from the department of General law. Dr. Alwan confirmed that his discussion with Obaid highlighted the expansion of the urban aspect and stopping the wave of desertification by codifying planning and approving it before starting any work, and adopting the concepts of sustainability in all its forms, and this requires legislating administrative systems that take care of urban planning, which has become a starting point for project entrepreneurship in the world.
It is noteworthy that the Center of Urban and Regional Planning has many contributions in various fields that participate in framing urban planning and support its scientific and practical products with openness of knowledge and a clear vision.
