The Center of Urban and Regional Planning for Postgraduate Studies at the University of Baghdad witnessed the discussion of the higher diploma project entitled (Analysis of Ease of Access to Secondary Schools in the Musayyib District), by the student Soha Ali Jassim, and under the supervision of Assistant Professor Dr. Ali Hussein Al-Janabi. The project aimed to analyze access to secondary schools in Musayyib District in Babylon Governorate using the GIS system and comparing it with the planning standards for the spatial location of secondary schools according to accessibility standards, based on the hypothesis that adopting planning standards in the distribution of secondary schools in the Musayyib district contributes to achieving ease of access and functional efficiency of this service.

The theoretical part of the project dealt with the concept of educational services and ease of access, in addition to urban and regional housing standards for secondary education, as well as standards of ease of access. In her project, the student studied the reality of the state of secondary education in the Musayyib district and the location of secondary schools in the four districts of the district.

While the practical side of the project used an analysis of the standard distance and the nearest neighbor to determine the extent of the spread or concentration of secondary schools, and an analysis of the scope of service and the preparation of a questionnaire form to determine the extent of application of accessibility standards for secondary schools. It was concluded that there was a lack of application of planning standards in Musayyib district in terms of school locations and ease of access to them.  Alexandria district was found to be the closest to implementing ease standards for secondary schools.

The project recommended reconsidering the distribution of secondary schools in accordance with planning and accessibility standards, and taking into account equity in the distribution of secondary schools, after adopting modern technologies in determining the most appropriate location for schools.
