The Center of Urban and Regional Planning for Postgraduate Studies at the University of Baghdad organized a workshop entitled (Statistical Methods in Planning and Modeling of Place) in cooperation with the Rehabilitation and Employment Unit and the Continuing Education Unit at the Center. It was delivered by Professor Dr. Jamal Baqir Mutlak and Assistant Professor Dr. Ali Hussein Muhammad, with the participation of engineer Iyad Kazem Salem from the Buildings Department of the Ministry of Construction and Housing.

The workshop aimed to introduce researchers, planners, and stakeholders to the mechanism of data statistics while writing their research and theoretical studies using the SPSS system, and to guide them on the possibility of applying these statistics on the ground.

The workshop addressed the definition of the role of statistics in planning by defining the problem, collecting data, displaying and analyzing it, and thus making a decision.

The types of statistical samples by society (for example, the subject of the study), methods of data analysis, as well as the aspects of credibility and reliability in listing the results were discussed.

The workshop, which lasted for two days, recommended that the state must provide the necessary statistical indicators to achieve the sustainable development goals, in addition to the number of statistical indicators that can be obtained from the Central Organization for Statistics.
