The Center of Urban and Regional Planning for Postgraduate Studies at the University of Baghdad witnessed a seminar entitled (Promoting Entrepreneurship through Innovation and Scientific Research) delivered by Dr. Abdul Wahab Ahmed, within the activities of the Global Entrepreneurship Week under the auspices of the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research and the University of Baghdad. The lecture aimed to enhance entrepreneurial culture and develop the skills necessary for innovation by taking advantage of scientific research to encourage participants to publish in international publications as a tool for developing the entrepreneurial skills necessary for success in the scientific and research fields.
Ahmed presented the publishing mechanisms in the global repositories of Scopus and Clarivate, and discussed the instructions for their respective databases, and the instructions for publishing in peer-reviewed journals, in addition to defining the criteria for evaluating journals, the global impact factor and how it is calculated for journals, and the importance of the scientific output of researchers, the number of citations, and others that lead towards knowledge and achieving scientific and academic entrepreneurship.
In a related context, and among the Center’s activities during Global Entrepreneurship Week, two success stories were presented, the first of the Center’s jurist and teaching assistant, Zahraa Salem, which addressed the challenges she faced since her childhood, staying away from school due to the circumstances surrounding her, and returning to school after a short period of time. She defied the difficulties to excel academically as one of the top students, join the College of Law, complete her master’s degree, and being employed.
Engineer Amna Abdel Sattar, discussed her success story in light of the years of exile and the challenges of the language, to return strongly and continue her scientific and academic life among the elite and among the new staff.
It is noteworthy that the Center’s two activities embodied the challenges and determination to achieve success and integration in entrepreneurship by investing in human capabilities and skills and creating an impact that reflects positively on society.
