The Center of Urban and Regional Planning for Postgraduate Studies at the University of Baghdad discussed the master’s student Manaf Munther Abdul Hussein for his thesis entitled (Indicators of Green Construction in Residential Complexes and their Impact on the Urban Environment).
The researcher revealed that the increase in population size led to the construction of many vertical residential buildings represented by residential complexes.
The researcher stressed the importance of these buildings being subject to sustainability standards and requirements at the level of their spatial location and functional performance, in addition to their integration into the surrounding urban environment in order to adapt to the conditions to reduce pollution and move towards a healthier life for residents and better living.
The study concluded that there is a relationship between the environmental indicators of green residential buildings and their impact on the surrounding urban environment, and that the buildings’ containment of sustainability requirements will achieve green building standards and provide sustainability at the level of design, operation, and maintenance, which will thus lead to the quality of life of residents over generations.
