The Center of Urban and Regional Planning for Postgraduate Studies at the University of Baghdad witnessed the discussion of the master’s thesis entitled (The healthy city and its role in reducing the risk of epidemics / Corona pandemic) by researcher Bahaa Adnan Mohsen, and under the supervision of Professor Dr. Nada Khalifa Muhammad.
The researcher dealt with the problem of the city’s weak ability at the present time to confront epidemics and disasters, the latest of which is the Corona pandemic, which caused health problems and a high number of deaths in addition to social and economic problems.
The researcher concluded that population density is one of the factors causing an increase in infection with the Corona virus and its rapid spread, as the relationship between them is found directly, and cities can begin the process of transforming into healthy cities if they adhere to the minimum limits of health principles that promote development and maintenance in physical and social environments and secure access to high levels of service.
