The Center of Urban and Regional Planning for Postgraduate Studies at the University of Baghdad discussed a master’s thesis titled “The Impact of Vertical Housing Projects on the Urban Landscape – Muthanna Airport Street,” by student Ijlal Hassan Aziz, supervised by Dr. Adel Hassan Jassim. The thesis aimed to understand the relationship between vertical housing projects and the urban landscape, increase planning awareness in selecting the locations of these projects, and develop vacant spaces in an integrated manner that supports urban and urban integration.<\/span><\/h4>\n

The research methodology was based on a descriptive, analytical, and field approach using visual analysis tools and an expert questionnaire, with a field application on Muthanna Airport Street in the capital, Baghdad. In her thesis, the student hypothesized that introducing these projects without adhering to planning and design standards leads to confusion and distortion in the visual and sensory perception of the urban landscape.<\/span><\/h4>\n

The thesis concluded that the absence of appropriate architectural approaches, the departure from the human scale, and the weak integration of sustainability and visual identity concepts negatively impact the quality of the urban landscape. The student recommended the importance of developing a comprehensive vision for integrating vertical residential projects into the urban fabric and adopting design and planning standards based on visual perception and the human scale.<\/span><\/h4>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
