Today, Sunday, August 3, 2025, the Center of Urban and Regional Planning for Postgraduate Studies at the University of Baghdad held a moment of silence to commemorate the anniversary of the genocide of the Yazidis and other ethnic groups, a painful chapter in Iraq’s history. The event included a minute of silence and a vehicle stoppage in memory of Iraq’s martyrs and victims of the genocide.<\/span><\/h4>\n

Professor Dr. Kareem Hassan Alwan, Dean of the Center, emphasized that this anniversary embodies a message of loyalty to all victims and a renewal of the pledge to work for a safe and diverse Iraq that respects all its components. He called for the promotion of peaceful coexistence and the consolidation of the values of tolerance and social justice.
