The Center for Urban and Regional Planning for Postgraduate Studies at the University of Baghdad has researched the master’s thesis entitled (The role of efficiency and sufficiency of tap water service in the quality of urban life “Case Study \/ Hilla City Center”) by the student Hussein Hatem Hadi, and supervised by Professor Dr. Karim Hassan Alwan. The thesis aimed to study and analyze the efficiency and sufficiency of tap water in Hilla and its role in urban life and find the necessary solutions to improve this service, after evaluating the type of tap water and its compliance with the standard specifications for Iraqi drinking water and identifying the factors affecting it, in addition to the sufficiency of water after determining its quantity that meets the city’s needs. <\/span><\/h4>\n

The student assumed the application of planning standards for tap water in order to develop the service and improve the quality of urban life in Hilla. The letter recommended the necessity of adding units to treat salts due to their high concentrations, and establishing a new project for tap water in Hilla to meet the needs of the population according to the per capita share criteria, in addition to working to protect the Hilla River from pollution and not allowing hospitals and industrial plants to dump heavy water into the river, with the return to using water meters and collecting service fees according to the consumed quantity in order to reduce waste and prevent some practices of using tap water to irrigate gardens or use it for commercial and industrial purposes.<\/span><\/h4>\n
