The Center of Urban and Regional Planning for Postgraduate Studies at the University of Baghdad discussed the master’s thesis entitled (The impact of mixed use on the diversity of the urban landscape of Souq Al-Shuyukh City) by the student Siran Zwaid Akmoush, and supervised by Assistant Professor Dr. Ammar Khalil Ibrahim. The research aimed to shed light on bridging the knowledge gap in the interactive relationship between mixed land uses and their impact and the extent of their reflection on the diversity of the urban landscape.<\/span><\/h4>\n

The thesis relied on the quantitative analysis method, and reached an increase in the percentage of pollutants and the deterioration of the urban environment and its unsuitability for living as a result of mixing random use. The thesis also confirmed that there is a strong direct correlation between mixed land use and the urban landscape of the city at a confidence level of 99%, which means that mixed use has a strong impact on the diversity of the urban landscape.<\/span><\/h4>\n

The student also stressed in her recommendations the importance of adopting the principle of mixed use, whether in planning existing cities or new cities, as it works to create sustainable urban environments, and the importance of setting design planning standards to mix land uses correctly and in a harmonious manner in order to preserve the city’s landscape and its characteristics in a non-distorted manner.<\/span><\/h4>\n
