The Center for Urban and Regional Planning for Postgraduate Studies is a distinguished academic institution established under Law No. 116 of 1971 as a direct response to the urgent need to prepare specialized personnel capable of meeting the demands of urban development and comprehensive planning in Iraq. The Center is the only academic institution of its kind within the governmental and private sectors that focuses exclusively on postgraduate studies in urban and regional planning, granting it a unique position and leadership in this field. The Center is distinguished by its multidisciplinary approach, attracting students from diverse academic backgrounds, including engineering and humanities disciplines, reflecting its integrated vision of providing innovative and comprehensive planning solutions. The Center strives to develop human capital by offering advanced and specialized educational programs that keep pace with global scientific and technological advancements, with a focus on developing students’ analytical and creative abilities.<\/span><\/h4>\n

The center aims to be a leading academic and research authority in the field of urban and regional planning, by preparing qualified personnel capable of achieving sustainable development in its comprehensive sense, balancing economic, social, and environmental dimensions. The center envisions a future-oriented approach that contributes to building sustainable cities and developed regions that keep pace with global urban transformations.<\/span><\/h4>\n

To achieve these goals, the center is committed to providing rigorous applied scientific research that focuses on the vital issues facing cities and regions in Iraq. This includes strengthening cooperation with relevant governmental and private institutions such as municipalities, urban planning departments, academic institutions, and civil society. The center is also keen to engage with leading international experiences and adopt best practices in urban and regional planning, while strictly adhering to ethical values \u200b\u200band international academic standards.<\/span><\/h4>\n

In line with its noble mission, the center aspires to be a strategic partner for governmental and private institutions in developing policies and plans that contribute to improving the quality of life and promoting comprehensive and sustainable development. This mission represents a firm commitment from the center to advance society and build a future characterized by sustainability and prosperity.<\/span><\/h4>\n

1. Developing specialized planning personnel in urban and regional planning to improve the conditions of cities and rural areas.<\/span><\/h4>\n

2. Continuing efforts to raise the quality and efficiency of postgraduate studies conducted by the center in urban and regional planning.<\/span><\/h4>\n

3. Developing teaching, examination, and testing systems and employing new methods to enhance teaching and learning approaches.<\/span><\/h4>\n

4. Developing the center’s information systems necessary to establish a knowledge infrastructure that supports the development of student projects, theses, and dissertations.<\/span><\/h4>\n

5. Continuing to emphasize the theoretical and applied aspects alongside the academic aspects in the center’s study programs and applied projects.<\/span><\/h4>\n

6. Strengthening the scientific foundation of the center’s faculty and researchers.<\/span><\/h4>\n

7. Spreading planning awareness and emphasizing the philosophy of strategic urban and regional planning in the preparation of regional plans and master plans for cities to organize the current reality and raise aspirations for a better future, both qualitatively and quantitatively. 8- Continued commitment to the ethical and human values \u200b\u200band dimensions of higher education in the field of postgraduate studies, as knowledge and minds are not commodities or goods, but rather an important asset that must be nurtured to improve the quality of education, develop its level, and reflect positively on the center\u2019s outputs.<\/span><\/h4>\n
